Visit from Alfraganus University (Uzbekistan)
As part of the Credit Mobility programme funded by Erasmus+: Erasmus, we had the unique opportunity to host colleagues from our new partner institution, Alfraganus University (AFU, Uzbekistan) – Prof. Mansur Eshov, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs, and Dr. Zinora Boltaeva from the Department of Management and Marketing. The Department of Economic Statistics (FE TUL) served as the host department. Bc. Ing. Karina Tatek Benetti, Ph.D., MSc. is the ambassador of the FE TUL Erasmus+ project.
During their stay, Prof. Eshov and Dr. Boltaeva delivered guest lectures in the course Fundamentals of Insurance, introducing students to the insurance system in Uzbekistan – an inspiring insight into the transformation and modernization of the insurance market in Central Asia. The visit also included a series of professional meetings with colleagues from the Department of Economic Statistics, focused on sharing experiences in economic analysis, data literacy, and statistical modelling. The discussions covered the use of analytical tools (Statgraphics, Statistica), the digitalization of teaching, and the integration of AI into educational systems.
Furthermore, Dr. Zinora Boltaeva compared the AFU information system with IS STAG and its connection to the TUL e-learning platform, gaining valuable insights into the operation of modern academic information systems in the Czech context. Our sincere thanks for their excellent organisation, warm welcome, and continuous support of this important mobility go to:
- doc. RNDr. Miroslav Brzezina, CSc., dr.h.c. (TUL Rector),
- doc. Ing. Kateřina Maršíková, Ph.D. (Vice-Rector for International Affairs),
- Michaela Andělová (Head of the International Office TUL) and her team,
- Ing. Mgr. Marek Skála, Ph.D. (Dean of the Faculty of Economics TUL),
- and Ing. Jana Vlach and Petra Froese Stolín (the International Office of FE TUL).
We would also like to express our special appreciation to the colleagues from the Department of Economic Statistics for their active participation, inspiring discussions, and friendly cooperation throughout the visit.
We believe this visit marks the beginning of a long-term collaboration between the Faculty of Economics, TUL, and Alfraganus University, opening new opportunities for joint research, knowledge exchange, and educational projects between the Czech Republic and Uzbekistan.
