Recommendation: It is preferred to take the state exam in economics first, then the final state exam!

The State Examination in Economics

Students need to register in STAG for SZZE as for a regular exam. Only students who passed partial exams in subjects Microeconomics II and Macroeconomics II are allowed to register for the State Exam in Economics.

The final schedule will be announced a week before the term of the Final State Examination in Economics.

Students need to have a print-out from STAG confirming successfull complection of both Macroeconomics II and Microeconomics II courses with you for the exam.

The Final State Examination

A stipulation for enrolling for the Final State Examination is:

  • obtaining a minimum of 120 credits in courses in the corresponding study programme for the 1st and 2nd year of study
  • submitting the Diploma Thesis which has been approved by the diploma thesis supervisor
  • passing the State Examination in Economics.

Students must register for the SZZPE at the department of the Faculty of Economics which supervises their final thesis (subjects D1* and D2* in IS STAG) not later than 2 weeks before the announced term of Final State Exam.

How to register for Final State Examination?

Students need to register in STAG for SZZPE as for a regular exam. The deadline for registration for the final state examination in January is given by the calendar of the academic year, i.e. by

  • May 27, 2022 for June term of the final exam
  • August 24, 2022 for September term of the final exam

The final state examination usually takes place three times a year:

  • in the second half of June
  • at the beginning of September
  • in the first half of February

What topics are covered in the Final State Examination?

  • Topis for students admitted to studies before 2019 into the study programme Economics and Management, specialization: Business Administration:

  • Topics for students admitted to studies after 2019 into the study programme Business Administration, specialization Management of Business Processes:

  • The final state examination takes the form of a "debate" on selected topics from the above list of topics and in relation to the thesis.

Deadline for Final Thesis Submission:

May 6, 2022 for June term of the final exam
June 15, 2022 for September term of the final exam

Terms of the Final State Examination:

1) June 13-16, 2022
2) September 5-8, 2022

The final schedule will be announced a week before the term of the Final State Examination.

Part of the final state examination is the defence of the diploma thesis. For the defence, it is recommended to use a template of the final thesis presentationEach part of the State Final Examination can be resit twice.

Termination of the Studies

Students who successfully graduated have to officially terminate the studies at the Study Office.

Requirements related to the termination of studies:

  • confirmed Clearance Form,
  • if necessary - Confirmation of the Termination of the Study (note: Study started - the date according to IS STAG, Study terminated - the date of the Final State Examination). It is also possible to print out the Confirmation directly from IS STAG (necessary if the study was interrupted during the studies)
  • graduates who will take part in the Graduation Ceremony have to pay a graduation fee of CZK 200 (including a scarf and the admission of up to five family members).

Graduation Ceremony 2021/2022:

Graduates are supposed to be in front of the auditorium of building G an hour before the start of graduation (at 8 a.m.) next to the dressing room on the 3rd floor of the building. A formal attire is required.
