Order of the Dean of the FE TUL No. 4/2023 rev. 01

Organization of State Doctoral Examinations and Dissertation Thesis
Defences for Academic Year 2023/2024

(1) For the State Doctoral Examinations and Dissertation Thesis Defences held before the members of the examination boards for the study programmes Economics and Management, Business Administration and Management and Systems Engineering and Informatics on 19th April 2024, the students of respective doctoral study programmes who apply to take the State Doctoral Examination or to defend their Dissertation submit their applications by 28th February 2024 to the Dean's Office of the Faculty of Economics of TUL to Mrs Tereza Marková (tereza.markova@tul.cz).

 

(2) For the State Doctoral Examinations and Dissertation Thesis Defences held before the members of the examination boards for the study programmes Economics and Management, Business Administration and Management and Systems Engineering and Informatics on 23th May 2024 and 24th May 2024, the students of respective doctoral study programmes who apply to take the State Doctoral Examination or to defend their Dissertation submit their applications by 20th March 2024 to the Dean's Office of the Faculty of Economics of TUL to Mrs Tereza Marková (tereza.markova@tul.cz).


(3) The following documents are attached to the Application for the State Doctoral Examination:

a) Proposition of the Dissertation Thesis in electronic version and five printed copies processed according to the Dean’s Directive no. 4/2022, including structured professional Curriculum Vitæ (no personal data),
b) Statement of a Supervisor (see the following page), in terms of recommending or not recommending the State Doctoral Examination,
c) Record of the Course of the Colloquium held at the Department,
d) Course of Study, i.e. the printed and signed course of studies form (the form for printing the Course of Study can be found in IS STAG under My Study -> Course of Study -> Study Results).

For the actual State Doctoral Examination, the applicant prepares a presentation in pdf containing an overview of the research carried out in the area of the Dissertation topic, the objectives of the Dissertation, an overview of findings and achieved results, as well as an outline of the continuation of the Dissertation Thesis.


(4) The following documents are attached to the Application for the Dissertation Thesis Defence:

a) the Dissertation Thesis in electronic version and three printed copies of the Dissertation Thesis in the final version processed according to both the Rector's Directive No. 5/2018 and the Dean’s Directive 4/2022,
b) electronic version of the presentation of the Dissertation Thesis and ten printed copies of presentation of the Dissertation Thesis processed according to the Dean’s Directive 4/2022,
c) Record of the Course of Preliminary Defence at the relevant Department,
d) structured professional Curriculum Vitæ, including the educational stay overview (no personal data),
e) a list of publications of the Ph.D. student, including the author's share and citations (responses) on Ph.D. student’s publications, which implies meeting the minimum criteria according to the Dean’s Directive No. 8/2014,
f) Statement of the Supervisor in terms of recommending or not recommending the Ph.D. student for the Dissertation Thesis defence and the supervisor’s proposal of potential reviewers of the DissertationTthesis, who tentatively agreed to oppose the Thesis (details are regulated by the article 24 Study and Examination Regulations of the Technical University in Liberec); the reviewers are proposed by the supervisor to the Branch Board; the reviewers are appointed by the Dean on the proposal of the Branch Board;
g) the supervisor's report containing an evaluation of the Ph.D. student’s cooperation with the supervisor, the supervisor’s opinion on the professional level of the Dissertation and on the Ph.D. student’s publication activity and an assessment of the result of the plagiarism check,
h) Course of Study, i.e. the printed and signed course of studies form (the form for printing the Course of Study can be found in IS STAG under My Study -> Course of study -> Study Results).

 

(5) The next date of the State Doctoral Examinations and Dissertation Defences is planned for November 2024. The exact date will be set by the Order of the Dean.


(6) Person in charge is the Vice-Dean for Science and Research.

 

(7) The review no. 00 of the Order of the Dean No. 4/2023 from 11th December 2023 is hereby revoked.

 

(8) This review no. 01 of this Dean’s Order enters into force and effect on 8th January 2024.
