Department of Economic Statistics

The Department of Economic Statistics focuses on a wide range of statistic sciences, which include statistical, econometric and economic-mathematical methods applicable in all economic areas. The fundamental objective is to keep pace with the latest trends in the development of statistical methods and procedures, which, in connection with the creation of specialised statistic software,  tend to be increasingly more sophisticated. Particular importance is attached to intensive research into the possibilities of applying statistical methods in economic practice.

About the Department

The Department provides teaching of statistical subjects not only for study programmes at the Faculty of Economics, but also for the Recreology programme at the Faculty of Science and Humanities and Pedagogy and the General Nursing and Biomedical Engineering programmes at the Faculty of Health Sciences.

The main objective of the teaching is to familiarize students with modern statistical tools for data analysis and to teach them to use them correctly so that in the future they will be able to apply statistical methods and procedures effectively in the environment of real economic data.

 

 

Besides teaching, the members of the Department focus on research, deal with grant activities and prepare new projects proposals. They cooperate with foreign universities, go on internships, and take part in both local and international conferences. The outcomes of their work are published in scientific journals.

 


 

Teaching

Teaching

The Department provides teaching of statistical subjects in full-time and combined form within the Bachelor´s, Master´s and Doctoral studies at the FE TUL. It also provides teaching in English for foreign students. Members of the Department with a specialisation in insurance provide, among other things, teaching of courses in this field.

Research

Research

The Department focuses its scientific and research activities on research tasks and projects in accordance with its area of expertise. Members of the Department also provide consultancy services to other Departments of the Faculty of Economics of TUL as well as of other faculties of TUL. Members of the Department participate in grant projects and other research tasks assigned by ministries and business entities, publish in domestic and foreign professional journals, in scientific proceedings of international conferences and in monographs
